Western Indians ,no matter how westernised always hold their children close and want to monitor and control their lives. What they fail to understand is that westernization is not just what u wear or the kind of technology,home or even a painting you own or the use of modern medicine and science but also the way one thinks morally. It is doing away with traditional thinking no matter how religious or orthodox you are. Its not only following a trend but thinking and living in that fashion permanently and not just when an occasion arises. You cant expect your children to be brought up or get married the old fashion way with all the rituals. Most couples from inter-religious or inter-caste marriages just prefer a court marriage. They wanna stay unmarried and have a live in relation or just have affairs without settling down. Love is just a part of their life. They still want to love and be loved by their family and by the society regardless who their partners or partners in life may be as they arent harming any family member physically or mentally. So emotionally all they want is that their family accepts them and be there for them emotionally. Not to worry too much about unless they really need their help. To let them be free after they leave college, free to live their life and that their family and society always keep their doors open to welcome them whenever they come visit.
